As a Community Artist (drama and art) for more than 20 years I have worked with individuals in groups, communities and organisations. While I have always been aware of the effects of the arts in empowering groups, I have also come to accept the need for a personal encounter with the roots of the arts - symbol, image, drama, sound, COLOUR. In my experience we can only truly be part of a group when we know who we are as individuals. I feel this can only be achieved through finding one's own unique creativity - no matter how odd that might be!
